This artwork depicts Abaddon, one of the Five Heresiarchs (five Elder Gods of Hell) from my Doom fanfic "Day of Wrath."
Abaddon represents the violence of Hell. The conflict, destruction, and eternal in-fighting.
Abaddon shares no honor, no martial prestige, no disapproval for ranged battle or sorcery, no respect for ally or foe.
He and his followers revel in warfare and bloodshed, conquest and indiscriminate slaughter.
He is the Heresiarch with the most followers and farthest reach of all, his forces waging unholy war across all pits of Hell, all mortal worlds, and all divine planes, though to announce him as the most powerful Heresiarch would be a mistake. The Elder Gods are the supreme authorities of the Infernal Realm, and though they may vary in following, reach, sorcerous expertise, technological skill, combat prowess, aggressivity, intellect, and brute power, their differing traits balance out and leave them as effective equals, the Five Heresiarchs of Hell.
