The Nameless One - "Day of Wrath"

This artwork depicts the Nameless One, the first demon and supreme ruler of Hell from my Doom fanfic "Day of Wrath." It has no relation to the character of Davoth, the Dark Lord of Hell from Doom's DLC "The Ancient Gods," who's been completely written out of my project.
The Nameless One is neither Satan nor Lucifer, since these names are actually historical titles that never appeared in original Biblical scripture. "Satan" is a generic Hebrew title that means "opponent, rival, adversary," and Lucifer as "Light-Bringer" was the Roman term for Venus, which also appears in the Book of Isaiah in reference to the King of Babylon, described as falling from God's grace.
Other similar entities such as the Serpent of Eden, the tempter of Job, and the dragon of Revelations originally never referred to the Devil either, since the Christian concept of evil personified didn't exist until the Middle Ages. The tempter of Job in particular was even a dark but loyal servant of God in Heaven's council. Point is, most of modern culture's depiction of the Devil is based on medieval mistranslations, cultural diffusion, and basically fanfiction! There's a lot of theological debate to this day regarding the identities of all these figures, so I wanted to distinguish my own Dark Lord from all of them.

There is much mystery regarding the identity, nature, and history of the Nameless One. Few remain alive who witnessed the beginning of Creation, and fewer still will provide answers. Some claim the Nameless One was the first Angel, who rose in defiance against the Father and was cast down for its rebellion. Others claim the Nameless One was the first being to develop free will, who was imprisoned by the Father for fear that free will would ruin His perfect Creation. Others claim even more obscure and cryptic rumors, of the Nameless One seeking the secret of life eternal, or being the first with power over the Void beyond Creation.
Whatever the truth might be, the Nameless One is a figure as tragic and haunting as it is unspeakably malevolent. It lies chained to a sea of nothingness in Tartarus, the lowest of the three spheres of Hell, even deeper than the Five Heresiarchs. The Five Heresiarchs, also known as the Five Archdemons, do not heed or obey the command of the Nameless One, and they each enact their own sway upon the many beings and realms of Hell and beyond. Even so, the prison that contains the Nameless One is not perfect, and the Dark Lord is capable of exerting its power, blessing its champions, even extending infinitesimal shards of itself beyond its hold.
Because of the Nameless One's lack of name and face, as well as its fractured nature, it is believed that it is the sole being to be struck by the Crucible Sword and survive.

My concept of the Nameless One is inspired most heavily by the Mysterious Stranger from Mark Twain's works. A detached entity estranged on an island amid endless nothingness, the Mysterious Stranger is less a character and more a reflection of the concepts of evil, existentialism, and nihilism. It gives life and death, but neither one means anything to it for these powers come naturally. It never learned to do them, and it exists without human concepts of morality or right/wrong, so it brings ruin and destruction as indifferently as it brings prosperity and abundance.
The Stranger coldly watches humanity, reacting with disgust, then anger and violence at mankind's sins, but not as enemies so much as mere pests.
